Paul Provenza is one of the world’s most renowned comics and is perhaps best know for his role as editor, producer and director of the infamous documentary film “The Aristocrats”. Provenza’s career has spanned over three decades and has included worldwide comedy tours and starring roles on countless television series (you may remember him as Dr. Phillip Capra, who took over Joel’s position after he went into the wilderness to find himself).
Provenza is also a producer, director and writer. What seems most important to Provanza, beyond his own success is the encouragement of his fellow comedians and his ambition to parlay their comedy into works of individual and distinct art. His latest project, “The Satiristas” is an example of this ambition and a major undertaking, seemingly born and nurtured in order to teach us all that comedy is not just about making people laugh.
The book features 75 artists, including Maria Bamford, Marc Maron, Lewis Black, George Carlin, Louis CK, Stephen Colbert, Craig Ferguson, Conan O’Brien, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, The Smothers Brothers, Upright Citizens Brigade, Doug Stanhope and Jonathan Winters and will be released in the fall of this year.

Over the past several months PRCM has been conducting a series of interviews with the members of one of the most original, fearless, and beloved comedy troupes of our generation, The State. We have found the members that we have worked with thus far to be a group of people who have gone out of their way to help us and who have been consistently supportive of PRCM. They are all incredibly kind, ridiculously hard working people.
Kevin Allison, our newest addition to the series, is no exception.
