I love Todd Barry. In fact I adore him. He is unquestionably one of the funniest comics working today he’s also a nice guy. Ask him to do a favor for a friend and he’s all over it. In return we try to keep you up to date on his upcoming shows. If Todd Barry comes to your area go see him.

Hey WTFers, WTFbuddies, WTFaneers, WTFniks, people who have been on board since before WTF, all of you –
I am still off the nicotine and I am trying not to eat my way into insanity. My soul is itchy and I want to bang it against a wall, but for now I will listen to Kings of Leon and lock myself in my garage and send out the schwag I owe some of you folks.
Here’s a twist. I was in San Francisco and I got in touch with Daniel Handler. He is the author of the Lemony Snicket books. I wasn’t really familiar with the books, but I had done an event with him and found him to be very funny. Cut to: I’m flying to SF reading Lemony Snicket on the plane. An adult. I enjoyed it. I don’t know if I’m going to read the rest but I don’t get the feeling they are really for me. Maybe I will. I don’t know. I feel the same way about Harry Potter. I’m a fucking adult.
Enjoy my chat with Daniel.
Nick Swardson is true freak and pure clown. The dude is funny. Even when I didn’t want to think so I thought so. You know him from Reno 911 and his film work. He’s hard not to like and he has some great stories. One about Bernie Brillstein that I love.
Also, check to the left of this email to see if I am coming to a venue near you. Heads up NYC! There will be two live WTF tapings at Comix on Wednesday July 21st. 7:30 and 9:30. Jeff Garlin, Judah Freidlander, Gary Gulman, Robert Kelly, Jim David, Joe Mande, Louis Katz, Reverend Jen, Matt McCarty and maybe some special guests!
So there,
Maron

On the Verge of a Career Change?
Hey WTFers, WTFbuddies, WTFaneers, WTFniks, people who have been on board since before WTF, all of you –
So, thanks to all of you who came out to see Bring the Rock at Cobbs in San Francisco. I did it! I played guitar and sang a couple of songs with a great band. It was me, Grant Lee Phillips, Dave Gibbs and Mark Rivers. I did Brokedown Palace by The Grateful Dead and What Goes On by the Velvet Underground. I want to thank Greg Behrendt for making me do it. It was a rush and, quite honestly, by the time I got behind the mic, I wasn’t afraid. I just closed my eyes and let it come out of me. I did a bunch of recording at and around the show. Brendan and I will make it into an episode soon.
I think I may be on the verge of a career change. The garage is set up. Time to put together a garage band and broadcast live from the Cat Ranch.
This week is a treat. I had never really met Jim Jefferies but I had seen his special on HBO and I thought he was a beat up old man with some great stories. When he came over I was surprised to find he was a young guy who just lives hard. It was good talk. Nice to check in with someone on their way to becoming a beat old man. He’s a funny Australian fucker though. You’ll dig it.
When I was in SF I was fortunate enought to run into Marga Gomez. I hadn’t seen her in probably 15 years. She was one of the original rebel gay comics that came out of the SF comedy/queer performance scene in the Bay area in the late eighties. She has had many one person shows and I was able to get her to my hotel room for a one on one chat about all that sex, comedy, queer and crazy making stuff. I think you’ll dig her as well.
On horizon I can see the infamous Dane Cook coming to the garage to give his side of being Dane Cook. Also, I have set up talks with Nick Swardson, Andy Richter, Dana Gould, Bob Saget, and Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket.) There are a couple of Live WTFs set to go at Comix in NYC in July. So, be excited.
Thanks for being there.
Maron

Hello friends and mailing list friends,
I am sorry to bombard you with emails once every three to five months. Still, in this media-saturated world, it is only one of six ways to get this information to you. What sort of information? Mostly, it’s self-promotional information about shows and whatnot. Why? Because I believe in five to ten years it will lead to me owning a home, maybe even a boat or horse I don’t know how to care for. What follows now is the information about live shows and also, television shows:
Some Live Dates
New York, NY, June 4 and 5, 8pm & 10:30
Comix w/ Andy Kindler (discount code AEOD)
Brooklyn, NY, June 17, FREE, 7:30
Eugene Mirman and Pretty Good Friends
In Prospect Park presented by Celebrate Brooklyn
w/ John Hodgman, Michael Showalter, Janeane Garofalo, Jerry Minor, Kumail Nanjiani and special guests, both comedic and musical. Afterparty at Bell House.
Turners Falls, MA, June 10, FREE, 10 pm
The Rendezvous
A Bedtime Chat with Eugene Mirman about Comedy, Hampshire College and Everything. Moderated by Matthew Latkiewcz & Anja Schutz (featuring Jamie Burger on Skype!)
Amherst, MA, June 12
Hampshire College 40th Anniversary
This is just for Hampshire alums, faculty, staff and students, but maybe that’s you.
Aspen, CO, June 23,
John Wesley Harding’s Cabinet of Wonders
w/ Kristin Hersh, John Doe, Colum McCann, Elizabeth McCracken, Edward Carey and more!
I am also working on a few TV shows.
In mid-June I start shooting more episodes of Delocated, the delicious (wrong word!) live-action Adult Swim series starring Jon Glaser.
I am recording a voice (Gene, the goofball son) on Fox’s new animated series, Bob’s Burgers, which was created by Loren Bouchard (who produced Dr. Katz and Home Movies). It also stars Jon Benjamin, Kristen Schaal, John Roberts, Dan Mintz and lots of great guests.
Love,
Eugene
